Family Selection
Volunteers who serve on the Family Selection Committee will:
- Interview applicants
- Make home visits to potential partner families
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding family selection
Bi-lingual volunteers are needed help when translation is required.
The committee meets irregularly as needed to consider new applications.
Family Support
Family Mentor volunteers work one-on-one with prospective or existing Habitat partner families:
- Skills for successful home-ownership
- Assist through the building process
- Help keep track of partnership requirements
- May serve as a friend, role model, tutor and more for the children of Habitat homeowners ages 5 through 18
Mentors are expected to make a one year commitment to the program and to schedule consistent visits with their partner family. Mentors will be required to fill out an application form, provide three references, undergo a criminal background check, and participate in a personal interview.
