Avery County Habitat for Humanity depends on volunteers!!!! We offer many opportunities that match a wide variety of interests and skills.

Habitat construction sites operate (weather permitting) Monday through Friday. Weekend workdays for volunteer groups are also available upon request. Always call the office first to determine when and where the work is taking place. People with all skill levels are welcome!
Individuals: Join a crew that volunteers consistently on specific days of the week. Currently we have crews working on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you are volunteering independently, these groups are a great way to get involved.

Large Groups – 15+ People: Large groups from churches, colleges, companies and organizations can accomplish a lot in a short time. ACHFH offers accommodations for up to 20 people at the Gilmer Community Center. Please contact the office for more information.

Volunteer Resources
Safeguarding and Code of Conduct
Nothing is more important for Avery County Habitat for Humanity than the welfare of the people we work with every day — those in the communities where we work, our volunteers and our employees. Our mission calls us to serve. Our volunteers, staff members and partners all must feel safe, physically and emotionally, in order for us to truly join together, trust each other, and to build a world where everyone has a decent place to call home.
Job Site Safety for Volunteers
At Avery County Habitat for Humanity, we work with our volunteers, homeowners and staff to ensure each build site is a safe working environment.
Your team leader, construction site supervisor and trained Habitat Competent Person have experience reducing hazards, but you as a volunteer can take measures to ensure you and your team’s safety as well.
